Damon T was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of two parents from the deep south who met and settled in the big city.
He fondly remembered childhood trips back to the south to visit his grandparents where he would hear the songs of his grandmother and the songs of the children playing in the street. Those traditional songs came back to him later in life, after he had moved to the UK, and he incorporated his interpretations of them into his blues, folk and pop repertoire.
A live show with Damon, often accompanied by Luke Philbrick or Mark Cole, was a rollercoaster of genres and emotions, all given Damon's unique arrangements. Where else could you hear an RL Burnside song, a Prince song and a Depeche Mode song mixed in amongst his personal, original compositions.
Damon lost his long battle with cancer in July 2019 and although not an official Rawtone Records artist, we present his digital catalogue here so you can discover his wonderful music and support his family by purchasing his recordings. We take none of the proceeds from his music sales.
